Žádost o registraci byla podána Karlem Srpem v roce 1969 a od roku 1971 je nezávislou dobrovolnou kulturní organizací, která se věnuje umění, historii a lidským právům. Během komunismu byla zakazována a členové vězněni. Ve světě se stala symbolem boje proti totalitním režimům. Dochovaly se stovky cizojazyčných výstřižků.
Jazzová sekce nemá placené zaměstnance a není dotována státem. Činnost hradí z darů. Navštivte také naši galerii, klub, čítárnu, učebnu nebo si poslechněte internetové rádio s nekomerční hudbou.
Who We Are:
Jazz Section-Artforum is a nonprofit arts organization founded in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1969 (registracion)1. Jazzová Sekce-Artforum is one of the oldest organizations of this kind in the former Eastern Europe. Jazzová Sekce-Artforum does not have paid employees; we function entirely on the generosity of donations and sponsor gifts.
Our History:
During the Communism, members of Jazzová Sekce-Artforum were persecuted for publishing prohibited and unfit literature („samizdats“), for organizing concerts and exhibitions who had no governmental permission (rock,contemporary art, philosophy, education, human rights).
During the 1980’s, Jazzová Sekce-Artforum was completely banned and many of its members imprisoned. Many intellectuals in the world, including holders of the Nobel Prize, resolutely protested against this action. It was the biggest protest in the history of Eastern Europe.
Our Mission:
Today Jazzová Sekce-Artforum is primarily interested in cultural and political events of the 20th century. We curate large exhibitions addressing such themes as, The Beat Generation, August 1968, Losses and Hopes 1938-1989.Czechoslovakia 1938-1988 amo.
Since 2002, Jazzová Sekce-Artforum has operated a noncommercial internet radio show entitled Hortus (Since 2002 – blues,swing,hot jazz, beat generation, poetry, books amo)
